Kirk Smith MD of Tulsa: A Family Man

As a family physician, Kirk Smith MD of Tulsa is a genuine family man at heart. His work in the doctor’s office is reflective of his dedication to keeping family members healthy and happy, which is a focus that has been driven by a lifetime spent in a tight knit family setting. From childhood to adulthood, Kirk Smith MD of Tulsa has kept his practice of family medicine inspired by the well-being of his own.

While growing up, his father was the long-time Athletic Director at the school he attended in the upper Midwest before advancing to become a High School Principal and later Superintendent of schools in other smaller school districts. His mother was a Registered Nurse working in the Labor & Delivery as well as Newborn Nursery and Postpartum units for many years. Both of his parents are now retired. He also grew up with three brothers who are all now successful in their own capacities. One is an Orthopedic Surgeon, the other an Accountant in government service, and lastly one that is a Commander in the US Navy. Dr. Smith also has multiple nephews and nieces.

His brothers aren’t the only ones with kids, though. Dr. Smith has a family of his own. He is the father of two children: a son (Gabriel) and a daughter (Alyssa). Gabriel was born and deceased in 2006, but Dr. Smith says Gabriel will always be in his heart, on his mind, and in his prayers. Alyssa is a current first grader who loves to sing and has a great imagination.

He is also engaged to a beautiful, loving woman named Teresa that shares many of the same interests including hiking and outdoor activities. While they may not agree on the setting of a thermostat at home, Dr. Smith and Teresa can always enjoy involvement in outdoor activities together. They love their experiences, whether it’s a high elevation hike above 10,000 feet; a night under the stars in remote areas without light pollution; a white-knuckle drive amongst the Rocky Mountain Elk, trophy mule deer, bears, mountain lions, and wild horses near their New Mexico home; or a great day at the zoo seeing some of the spectacular creations of our universe.
